We are proud to announce that the TPi Breakthrough Talent awards will again be taking place at this year’s Production Futures on the 7 November 2018 at Production Park, Wakefield.

Set up as a ‘junior’ awards to the well-established TPi Awards, Breakthrough Talent is a chance to highlight the work of those still relatively new to the industry who are making waves within the live event bracket. However, this year the awards will take on a different format with 4 new awards categories.

As well as walking away with the title and the trophy, the winners of each category will be given a free ticket the annual TPi Awards in February 2019 - the ultimate networking opportunity for burgeoning talent in industry.


Undergraduate of the Year:

Nominees are to either currently enrolled on a university course or graduating summer 2018. Entrees are to submit a project they have been involved in some capacity. This can either be a one off show, a festival or a tour. All nominations must also contain either photos or videos showing off the event. Whether you are working in production, stage management, lighting, video, audio, a carpenter or a rigger we want to hear from you. Remember, the more information you give on the project, the greater your chance for walking away with the trophy.

Young Freelancer of the Year:

Nominees for this award must be between the ages of 16 – 28 and can come from any sector of the live industry, from production, lighting, audio, video, special effects or staging. On the entry form nominees must give an example of a project they have recently been involved in, be that a tour, a one off event or a festival and state their role within the project. All nomination must also contain either photos or videos showing off the event. The more details you submit about the project, the greater help it will be to the judges.

Production Rookie:

This is a chance for companies within the industry to shout about some of its latest employees. Nominees for this category must have worked at the company for no more than two years and must be put forward by a senior member staff within the organisation. Within the entry form you must comment on what this individual has brought to the company and explain why their aptitude to the industry has made them an invaluable member of the team. The nominee in question can come from any sector of the industry from the office, a member of the warehouse team, R&D or an on the road technician. The more information you give about the nominee, the greater their chances of success.

TPi Standout Talent:

This award will be announced on the 7th of November at Production Futures at will be decided by the editorial team of TPi and our panel of Judges to a person(s) who has gone above and beyond to show a real dedication to the live events industry and a real entrepreneurial sprit.
